About the Pharmacy Residency Program

With approximately 150 Lee Health pharmacists at four adult acute care facilities, all of which contain a Lee Pharmacy (community retail pharmacy), one pediatric acute care facility, a Regional Cancer Center, an Outpatient Infusion Center, two primary care clinics, an Employee Health Plan Pharmacy and two clinic-based retail pharmacies, we provide Pharmacy Services in both the inpatient and outpatients settings.

Pharmacists are involved in Interdisciplinary Team Rounds in the ICUs, PICU, NICU, Oncology and Pediatric Oncology Units. Pharmacists also participate in Progression of Care Rounds and provide decentralized services on most patient care units. 

Our pharmacists provide medication education to our inpatients and work with Care Management and our Lee Pharmacy staff to ensure our patients have successful transitions of care upon discharge through a system-wide bedside prescription delivery service. Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians are decentralized to all five of our Emergency Departments.

Our pharmacists play an integral role in the Medication Safety Committee, Institutional Review Committee, and Pharmacy & Therapeutic Committee. In addition, our pharmacists have an active Antimicrobial Stewardship program, provide Kinetics Dosing Services, Nutritional Support Services, and an Anticoagulation Dosing Service. 

Lee Health serves as a clinical clerkship site for colleges of pharmacy in the state of Florida as well as out-of-state colleges. APPE students are part of the Lee Health APPE Block Program with more than 10 rotations to choose from.

The PGY-1 and PGY-2 Residency Programs will be participating in PhORCAS (Pharmacy Online Residency Centralized Application Service); a web based application system. In addition to the application requirements of PhORCAS, the application deadline will be Jan. 3 each year. For more information on PhORCAS visit the ASHP website. 

All applicants must use PhORCAS to submit all application materials. Application materials required include academic transcripts from the college of pharmacy, a curriculum vitae, a letter of intent and three references. One reference must be from a Clinical Preceptor and no more than one reference can be from a faculty member. 

All reference writers must complete the Standardized Reference Form in PhORCAS. In lieu of a letter of recommendation the reference writer must complete the three Narrative comment sections in PhOrCAS.
